Dimanche après midi 2 octobre - Sunday afternoon, October 2^nd

J’ai rencontré Sébastien à l’aller entre Sept-îles où il est monté et Port Menier où il est descendu pour aller voir « sa blonde » ; en fait c’est sa chérie appelée ici « ma blonde ».

Nous avons papoté et partagé sa connection Internet ! (le wifi du bateau est très très mauvais…)

Aujourd’hui à Port Menier il est remonté à bord et nous avons de nouveau papoté et admiré le paysage sur le pont 8.

I met Sebastien on the way out between Sept-îles where he went on board and Port Menier where he came down to visit his blonde; In fact it’s his darling called here « my blonde ».

We chatted and shared his Internet connection! (The WiFi of the boat is very very bad)

Today in Port Menier he went back up on board and we again chatted and admired the landscape on the deck 8.

Je vais revoir Sébastien, il m’a invité chez lui à Montréal pour ma dernière semaine au Canada. Super !

I am going to see again Sebastien, he invited me at his home in Montreal for my last week in Canada. Great!

Visite de la timonerie.

La timonerie se trouve au pont 7 ; grandes baies vitrées tout autour.

The wheelhouse is in the deck 7; big plate glass windows all around.

Le capitaine nous explique le fonctionnement du navire.

The captain explains us the functioning of the ship.

Mais ce n’est pas Capitaine Gary !

Port Menier, île d’Anticosti

Fret, fret, fret…

Freight, freight, freight…

 A l’aller, je n’avais pas vu grand chose de Port Menier car il faisait nuit.

15 minutes de marche jusqu’au village.

Il fait jour mais je ne vois pas grand chose du village car rien n’est ouvert !

 

On the way out, I hadn’t seen much of Port Menier because it was dark.

15 minutes walk up to the village.

He is daylight but I don’t see much of the village because nothing is opened!

Sur la porte de l’Ecomusée, une pancarte nous remerciant de notre visite et nous précisant que la saison est finie ! Bon d’accord nous sommes en octobre… mais quand même !

On the door of the Ecomuseum, a sign thanking us for our visit and specifying us that the season is finished! Well all right we are in October… but all the same!

Les cerfs ici, ne sont pas sauvages, ils traînent dans le village et sont plutôt photogéniques !

Deers here, are not wild, they are hanging around in the village and are rather photogenic!

Un gentil Monsieur retraité, nous emmène en voiture, voir ce qu’il reste du château d’Henri Menier ; des ruines… ça ne donne pas une idée de la splendeur passée ! Le château a été volontairement incendié le 3 octobre 1953 par la compagnie Consolidated Pulp & Paper nouveau propriétaire de l’île après la mort d’Henri Menier. 

 A kind Sir retired, takes us by car, to see what it remains of Henri Menier's castle; ruins … that doesn’t give an idea of the past magnificence!

The castle was voluntarily set on fire on October 3rd, 1953 by the company Consolidated Pulp & Paper new owner of the island after Henri Menier's death.

Havre Saint Pierre

Les couleurs du petit matin sont tellement belles que ça vaut la peine de se lever tôt (à 5 h !)

Je vais en profiter en marchant sur le quai jusqu’au port de plaisance.

The colors of the early morning are so beautiful that it's worth getting up (at 5 am!)

I’m going to take advantage of it by walking on the quay up to the marina.

Le beau décor n’empêche pas les gars du fret de s’atteler à leur tâche des containers !

Un autre gros bateau est à quai aujourd’hui, il transporte du charbon.

The beautiful decoration doesn’t prevent the guys of the freight from getting on with their job of containers!

Another big boat is alongside the quay today, it transports some coal. 

On rembarque à 6 h 30

We reembark at 6:30 am

Je reste sur le pont 8 pour profiter encore des belles couleurs avant d’aller m’attabler devant mon petit déjeuner bien mérité !

I stay on the deck 8 to take advantage still of beautiful colors before going to sit at the table in front of my well deserved breakfast!
