Kangding : Soirée chez les musulmans

We buy bananas, watermelons, peanuts to offer them in the evening to the dinner where we are invited.

Nous achetons des bananes, des pastèques, des cacahuètes pour les offrir le soir au dîner où nous sommes invitées.

When we arrive at about 8 am, it is already dark and as in the after noon, numerous women are occupied with preparing the meal. There is already quite a lot of people in the courtyard and in the dining room. We are welcomed by the sir who had invited us in the after noon. As it is the Ramadan people gather in the evening to have dinner and pray. The men have a white keffiyeh that of the women is more decorated.

Lorsque nous arrivons vers 8 h, il fait déjà nuit et comme dans l’après midi, de nombreuses femmes sont occupées à préparer le repas. Il y a déjà pas mal de monde dans la cour et dans la salle à manger. Nous sommes accueillies par le monsieur qui nous avait invitées dans l’après midi. Comme c’est le ramadan les gens se rassemblent le soir pour dîner et prier. Les hommes ont un keffieh blanc ; celui des femmes est plus décoré.

Tables are already set up in the big dining-room. In the wall are hung onpaintings representing Mecca. The dinner guests arrive and we are installed at a table with a family which speaks English. It is nice because we can communi cate.

Dishes are highly varied and we eat well: fish, yak, soup of chicken, lotus, sweet rice and the other dishes which we don’t really identify!

Les tables sont déjà dressées dans la grande salle à manger. Au mur sont accrochés des tableaux représen- tant la Mecque. Les convives arrivent et nous sommes installées à une table avec une famille qui parle anglais. C’est sympa car nous pouvons communiquer.

Les plats sont très variés et nous mangeons bien : poisson, yak, soupe de poulet, lotus, riz sucré et d’autres plats que nous n’identifions pas vraiment !

The Sir who invited us says that it is a God who made the invitation, was him only the interme diary. People here are very nice, smiling, welcoming. There is a serene atmosphere,it is very pleasant. There are many children.

Between 8 am and 9 am some of them rise to the floor to pray where the Mosque is. We stay in the courtyard to be discussed. Numerous photos are made by a professional photographer and we too can us make with no problem at all photos.

Le Monsieur qui nous a invitées dit que c’est Dieu qui a fait l’invitation, lui n’était que l’inter-médiaire. Les gens ici sont très sympathiques, souriants, accueillants. Il règne une am- biance sereine, c’est très agréable. Il y a beaucoup d’enfants.

Entre 8 h et 9 h certains d’entre eux montent à l’étage où se trouve la Mosquée, pour prier. Nous restons dans la cour à discuter.     

De nombreuses photos sont faites par un photographe professionnel et nous aussi nous pouvons sans problème faire des photos.

 

 

The Hai community is about 1.000 persons on 40.000 who live to Kangding.

We were warmly welcomed and this evening is really unforgettable!

La communauté Hai est d’environ 1.000 personnes sur les 40.000 qui vivent à Kangding.

Nous avons été accueillies chaleureusement et cette soirée est vraiment inoubliable !

Kangding : Multi cultuelle

The multi-religious Kangding / Kangding la multi cultuelle

What is interesting here it’s to see the cohabitation of monastic communities.

Ce qui est intéressant ici c’est de voir la cohabitation des communautés religieuses.

We pass of the Buddhist Temple (just at the edge of an immense hole due to a construction of building) to the Roman Catholic Church, to the Protestant church, then to the mosque.

Nous passons du Temple Bouddhique (juste au bord d’un immense trou dû à une construction d’immeuble) à l’église catholique, à l’église protestante, puis à la mosquée.

In the bend of an alley we see, the Protestant Church.

Au détour d’une ruelle nous voyons, l’Eglise Protestante.

Then a little farther, the Mosque / Puis un peu plus loin, la Mosquée

Ozlem is Turkish, she discusses with one of the sirs of the Hai minority present in the courtyard. It is the period of the Ramadan and this sir invites us to return in the evening to participate in their dinner (It will be the theme of my next note).

Ozlem est Turc, elle discute avec un des messieurs de la minorité Hai présent dans la cour. C’est la période du ramadan et ce monsieur nous invite à revenir le soir pour participer à leur dîner (Ce sera le thème de ma prochaine note).

Then the Roman Catholic Church / Puis l’Eglise catholique

It is necessary to go up several floors to enter it. As the door is closed, we have to find the priest who just lives close. Unexpected to see Marie's representations and the child Jesus, Marie-Madeleine too!

 

 

Il faut monter plusieurs étages pour y entrer. Comme la porte est fermée, nous devons trouver le prêtre qui loge juste à côté. Inattendu de voir des représentations de Marie et l’enfant Jésus, de Marie-Madeleine !

 

 

It is really strange for me to see paintings representing the passion of the Christ with the Chinese text written under the image!

C’est vraiment étrange pour moi de voir des tableaux représentant la passion du Christ avec du texte chinois écrit sous l’image !

And in front of the door of the church an attractive small flowery terrace.

Et devant la porte de l’église une jolie petite terrasse fleurie.

 

Kangding : Temple en rénovation

In spite of the rain, we go to a park on a hill where we were able to roam on the construction site of a temple in renovation

Malgré la pluie, nous allons dans un parc sur une colline où nous avons pu déambuler sur le chantier d’un temple en rénovation.

The climb up is stiff but our efforts are rewarded! Magnificent blazing colours portal and doors which brighten up a little this bad weather.

La montée est raide mais notre peine est récompensée ! Magnifique portail et portes aux couleurs flamboyantes qui égayent un peu ce temps gris.

It’s interesting to be able to visit this place. Rather than a restoration it’s an “alteration work” because the ancient parts are systematically destroyed and replaced by the new! Here it’s the method, we don’t preserve, we redo.

C’est intéressant de pouvoir visiter ce lieu. Plutôt qu’une restauration c’est une « reconstruction » car les parties anciennes sont systématiquement détruites et remplacées par du neuf ! C’est la méthode ici, on ne conserve pas, on refait.

For the lunch, we go in a Tibetan restaurant.

Pour le déjeuner, nous nous allons dans un restaurant tibétain.

We feast with the yak and the potatoes, the pancakes filled with the yak, the eggplants, the cakes … Hem!

Nous nous régalons avec du yak et des pommes de terre, des galettes fourrées au yak, des aubergines, des gâteaux… Hum !

We have a small discussion with the waiters. They indicate us the road to go to see a temple in a park close to the restaurant.

Petite discussion avec les serveurs. Ils nous indiquent le chemin pour aller voir un temple dans un parc proche du restaurant.
