Vendredi 1^er avril

 

Une petite croisière dans les Queen Charlotte Sounds pour aller jusqu’à l’île de Motuara. C’est là que James Cook a planté le drapeau de la Couronne Britannique en 1770.

Puis agréable marche sur un sentier côtier et forestier sur la Queen Charlotte Track entre Ship Cove et Endeavour Bay (c’est le nom du bateau de fameux Cook)

Et le soir nous prenons le ferry pour aller sur l’île du nord à Wellington

 

 

Last day island of the South

on Friday April 1st

A small cruise in Queen Charlotte Sounds to go to the Motuara island. It is there that James Cook planted the flag of the British Crown in 1770.

Then pleasant walking on a coastal and forest path on the Queen Charlotte Track between Ship Cove and Endeavour Bay (it is the name of the boat of famous Cook)

And in the evening we take the ferry to go on the island of the North to Wellington

En fin de journée nous sommes dans la région des vignobles : Les Marlborough

 

Nous visitons Le Clos Henri, un viticulteur français (du Sancerre) installé depuis 10 ans en Nouvelle Zélande. L’accueil se fait dans une petite église.

Les vignes sont en partie protégées sous des voilages, ça change de chez nous

Nous dégustons 2 Sauvignon Blancs et 2 Pinot Noir

Tasting of wine - On Thursday, March 31st afternoon

At the end of the day we are in the region of vineyards: Marlborough

We visit « Le Clos Henri », a French wine grower (From Sancerre) installed for 10 years in New Zealand. The reception is made in a small church.

Vineyards are partially protected under lace curtains, that changes from our home

Jeudi 31 mars

Nous continuons à longer la côte ouest jusqu’au Cap Foulwind c’est là qu’en 1642, Abel Tasman a accosté pour la 1^ère fois en Nouvelle Zélande.

Puis nous allons voir des otaries à poils longs qui se prélassent paresseusement sur les rochers, ou pataugent ou surfent dans les vagues !

Sea lions

Thursday, March 31^st

We continue to follow the west coast up to the Cape Foulwind it is there that in 1642, Abel Tasman accosted for the 1^st time in New Zealand.

Then we visit long-haired sea lions who bask lazily on rocks, either wade or surf in waves!

C’est un peu loin…  / It is a little bit far …

Marche matinale

Petite marche « reveillatrice » après le ptit déj et avant de prendre la route.

Traversée pendant une quinzaine de minutes de la jolie forêt proche de la maison (Truman Track) et nous débouchons sur la mer Tasman aux belles vagues !

Early walking

Small walking to wake up after the breakfast and before setting off.

Crossed during about fifteen minutes of the attractive forest close to the house ( Truman Track) and we arrive in the Tasman sea which has such beautiful waves

 

 

 

Pancake rocks

Mercredi 30 mars le soir

Magnifique côte ouest avec ses roches découpées, taillées par le vent et la mer (la mer Tasman), empilées comme des assiettes. Les vagues s’engouffrent avec un vacarme assourdissant, on croirait le tonnerre. C’est grandiose !

Pancake rocks  -  Wednesday, March 30th

Magnificent west coast with its rocks cut, cut by the wind and the sea ( the Tasman Sea), piled as plates. Waves rush with a deafening noise, we would believe the thunder. It is grand!

Nuit à Punakaiki dans de très jolies petites maisons au bord de la mer. Jacuzzi bien chaud la nuit en regardant le ciel étoilé, c’est géant !

At night to Punakaiki in of very nice little houses by the sea. Very hot Jacuzzi at night by looking at the starry sky, it is huge!
