Fromage de chèvre - Goat cheese

Lundi 1^er août

Quand j’ai vu ce petit fromage rond sur l’étalage, je me suis dit : « Youpi un chèvre ! » et je l’ai acheté. Le soir au dîner quand j’ai ouvert le paquet en salivant à l’idée de manger mon chèvre, je me suis rendu compte que c’était un brie ! Quelle déception ! Je l’ai mangé quand même.

Sinon journée relaxe !

When I saw this small round cheese on the display, I said myself: " yippee a goat cheese! " And I bought it. The evening in the dinner when I opened the package by salivating at the idea of eating my goat cheese, I realized that it was a Brie cheese! What a disappointment!

I ate it all the same.

Otherwise day relaxes!

On aurait dû voir un joli paysage du lieu de la bataille d’O’ahu qui a eu lieu en 1795, importante pour Hawaï puisqu’elle a donné le 1^er roi des îles hawaïennes.

We should have seen an attractive landscape of the place of the battle of O’ahu which took place in 1795, important for Hawaii because she(it) gave the 1st king of the Hawaiian islands.

À la fin des années 1700, Kamehameha I de l’île de Hawaï (celle des volcans en activité), a cherché à unir toutes les îles hawaïennes conformément à une même règle.

La bataille de l’île d'Oahu a commencé par l'arrivée de ses forces à Waikiki en 1795.

In the late 1700s, Kamehameha I from the island of Hawai’i (that of active volcanoes), sought to unite all the Hawaiian islands under one rule.

The battle of the O’ahu Island began with the arrival of his forces at Waikiki in 1795.

La bataille appelée Kaleleka'anae (de "anae" poisson sautant), se réfère aux hommes obligés de sauter de la falaise pendant le conflit avec le Chef Kalanikupule de l’île de Maui. Environ 400 guerriers sont morts dans cette bataille.

The battle called Kaleleka’anae (leaping of the « anae » fish), refers to the men forced off the cliff during the conflict with Maui Island’s Chief Kalanikupule. An estimated 400 warriors died in this battle.

La brume est tellement épaisse que nous ne voyons rien !

J’ai mal choisi mon jour pour faire le tour de l’île !

Retour à Honolulu en fin d’après midi, toujours sous la pluie !

 

I badly choe my day to make the tour of the island!

Toujours sous la pluie, nous quittons le nord orageux pour la côte est dans la brume. Arrêt dans un parc où se trouve un Temple japonais, magnifique réplique de Byodo-in, le temple construit à Uji, au Japon il y a plus de 950 ans.

Le temple et le jardin ont été formellement consacrés en 1968 pour commémorer l'anniversaire de 100 années des premiers immigrants japonais au Hawaii.

The temple and garden was formally dedicated in 1968 to commemorate the 100 years anniversary of the first Japanese immigrants to Hawaii.

Le Temple Byodo-in près de Kyoto, au Japon a été choisi, pour sa beauté et sa signification culturelle. Le temple de Uji a été désigné Trésor national par le gouvernement du Japon, faisant de cette réplique un hommage aux Japonais de Hawaii.

The Byodo-in temple near Kyoto, Japan was chosen because of its beauty and cultural significance. The temple in Uji has been designated a National Treasure by the government of Japan, making this replica a fitting tribute to the Japanese people in Hawaii.

 

La structure principale est appelée HO-O-DO qui se traduit par le Hall du Phénix. Elle loge les deux tonnes de la statue Amida (Bouddha du Paradis Occidental) aussi bien qu'un columbarium.

The main structure is called HO-O-Do which translates to Phoenix Hall. It houses the two-ton Amida statue (the Buddha of the Western Paradise) as well as a columbarium.

Le Bouddha a été d'abord conçu en miniature par Masuro Inui, après qu'il ait été placé à l'intérieur de la pièce en pleine grandeur, créé dans du bois d’Hinoki (le cyprès japonais) par Jokei Sagawa.

The Buddha was first designed in miniature by Masuro Inui, after which it was placed inside the full-size piece created in Hinoki wood (Japanese cypress) by Jokei Sagawa.

La figure assise, de 2,75 mètres (9 pieds) a été ensuite couverte d’un voile de trois applications de laque noire et finie à la feuille d'or avant d’être conservée dans le Hall du Phénix. Amida Bouddha représente l'encerclement infini et léger de tous les êtres.

The nine-foot seated figure was then covered with cloth, three applications of black lacquer and finished with gold leaf before being enshrined in Phoenix Hall. The Amida Buddha represents the infinite and light surrounding all beings.

Whistle stop of a plantation of pineapple (Plantation Dole). We would imagine in the island of Pines in Caledonia!

 

 

En principe les plages du nord ont des grosses vagues idéales pour le surf ; mais là, la mer paraissait calme !

In principle the beaches of the North have big ideal waves for the surfing; but there, the sea seemed quiet!

 

Par contre, c’est le ciel qui menace…

On the other hand, it is the sky which threatens …

 Et vers midi, l’orage pète !

And at around midday, the thunderstorm breaks!
