The multi-religious Kangding / Kangding la multi cultuelle

What is interesting here it’s to see the cohabitation of monastic communities.

Ce qui est intéressant ici c’est de voir la cohabitation des communautés religieuses.

We pass of the Buddhist Temple (just at the edge of an immense hole due to a construction of building) to the Roman Catholic Church, to the Protestant church, then to the mosque.

Nous passons du Temple Bouddhique (juste au bord d’un immense trou dû à une construction d’immeuble) à l’église catholique, à l’église protestante, puis à la mosquée.

In the bend of an alley we see, the Protestant Church.

Au détour d’une ruelle nous voyons, l’Eglise Protestante.

Then a little farther, the Mosque / Puis un peu plus loin, la Mosquée

Ozlem is Turkish, she discusses with one of the sirs of the Hai minority present in the courtyard. It is the period of the Ramadan and this sir invites us to return in the evening to participate in their dinner (It will be the theme of my next note).

Ozlem est Turc, elle discute avec un des messieurs de la minorité Hai présent dans la cour. C’est la période du ramadan et ce monsieur nous invite à revenir le soir pour participer à leur dîner (Ce sera le thème de ma prochaine note).

Then the Roman Catholic Church / Puis l’Eglise catholique

It is necessary to go up several floors to enter it. As the door is closed, we have to find the priest who just lives close. Unexpected to see Marie's representations and the child Jesus, Marie-Madeleine too!

 

 

Il faut monter plusieurs étages pour y entrer. Comme la porte est fermée, nous devons trouver le prêtre qui loge juste à côté. Inattendu de voir des représentations de Marie et l’enfant Jésus, de Marie-Madeleine !

 

 

It is really strange for me to see paintings representing the passion of the Christ with the Chinese text written under the image!

C’est vraiment étrange pour moi de voir des tableaux représentant la passion du Christ avec du texte chinois écrit sous l’image !

The photo of the pope is also surprising …

La photo du pape est tout aussi surprenante…

 

 

And in front of the door of the church an attractive small flowery terrace.

Et devant la porte de l’église une jolie petite terrasse fleurie.

 

Kangding : Temple en rénovation

In spite of the rain, we go to a park on a hill where we were able to roam on the construction site of a temple in renovation

Malgré la pluie, nous allons dans un parc sur une colline où nous avons pu déambuler sur le chantier d’un temple en rénovation.

The climb up is stiff but our efforts are rewarded! Magnificent blazing colours portal and doors which brighten up a little this bad weather.

La montée est raide mais notre peine est récompensée ! Magnifique portail et portes aux couleurs flamboyantes qui égayent un peu ce temps gris.

It’s interesting to be able to visit this place. Rather than a restoration it’s an “alteration work” because the ancient parts are systematically destroyed and replaced by the new! Here it’s the method, we don’t preserve, we redo.

C’est intéressant de pouvoir visiter ce lieu. Plutôt qu’une restauration c’est une « reconstruction » car les parties anciennes sont systématiquement détruites et remplacées par du neuf ! C’est la méthode ici, on ne conserve pas, on refait.

For the lunch, we go in a Tibetan restaurant.

Pour le déjeuner, nous nous allons dans un restaurant tibétain.

We feast with the yak and the potatoes, the pancakes filled with the yak, the eggplants, the cakes … Hem!

Nous nous régalons avec du yak et des pommes de terre, des galettes fourrées au yak, des aubergines, des gâteaux… Hum !

We have a small discussion with the waiters. They indicate us the road to go to see a temple in a park close to the restaurant.

Petite discussion avec les serveurs. Ils nous indiquent le chemin pour aller voir un temple dans un parc proche du restaurant.

Kangding : intendance

We take pleasure to sleep late. That makes of well be a little able to recover some fatigue of every hour spent to be shaken on the bad roads!

Nous prenons plaisir à faire une petite grâce matinée. Ça fait du bien de pouvoir un peu récupérer de la fatigue de toutes les heures passées à être secouées sur les mauvaises routes !

Our main mission of this day to Kangding: find quickly a plane ticket to return in Chengdu tomorrow (City where from we shall have to at 8:30 am take our plane for Beijing)..

Notre mission principale de ce jour à Kangding : trouver rapidement un billet d’avion pour rentrer à Chengdu demain (ville d’où nous devrons donc à 20 h 30 prendre notre avion pour Pékin).

But it is hardly easy to find the place of sale of tickets …

We lug around us from shop to shop, to the left, to the right and still to the left. The Tibetan language is certainly very beautiful, but we understand nothing there and Ozlem with her current Chinese is not more advanced … Here nothing is simple! Fortunately we cross some policemen who speak Chinese

Mais ce n’est guère facile de trouver l’endroit de vente des billets…

On nous trimbale de boutique en boutique, à gauche, à droite et encore à gauche. La langue tibétaine est sûrement très belle, mais nous n’y comprenons rien et Ozlem avec son chinois courant n’est pas plus avancée… Ici rien n’est simple ! Heureusement nous croisons quelques policiers qui parlent chinois

Due to walking round and round, looking, we manage "finally" to have the address of the place written in Chinese. We take a taxi and the driver reads the Chinese … Phew!

A force de tourner, de chercher, nous réussissons « enfin » à avoir l’adresse du lieu écrite en chinois. Nous prenons un taxi et le chauffeur lit le chinois… Ouf !

It is very expensive! The flight Kangding / Chengdu is expensive as well as the flight Chengdu / Beijing …

We are hesitating a little!

And when the girl say to us that the airport is at 1 h by bus from kangding, we give up the idea to take a plane…

C’est super cher ! Le vol Kangding / Chengdu coûte aussi cher que le vol Chengdu / Beijing…

Nous hésitons un peu !

Et quand la fille nous dit que l'aéroport est à 1 h en bus de kangding, nous abandonnons l'idée de prendre un avion …

So, we look for the bus station to organize our return. We question our taxi driver to know if it is interested to take us to Chengdu. He agrees for 1000 RMB (approximately 100 €). At the station others drivers propose their services. We find one who accepts for 700 RMB. He will come to look for us the following morning at 11 am to our hotel. According to him, is need 4:30 hours to go to Chengdu. Our plane being at 8:30 am it is doable …

Du coup, nous cherchons la gare routière pour organiser notre retour. Nous interrogeons notre chauffeur de taxi pour savoir s’il est intéressé de nous emmener à Chengdu. Il est d’accord pour 1000 RMB (environ 100 €). A la gare d’autres chauffeurs proposent leurs services. Nous en trouvons un qui accepte pour 700 RMB. Il viendra nous chercher le lendemain matin à 11 h à notre hôtel. D’après lui, il faut 4 h 30 pour aller à Chengdu. Notre avion étant à 20 h 30 c’est jouable…

It is raining, if the road is in a good state …

We stop in a beautiful hotel to use them toilet and drink a tea

Nous arrêtons dans un bel hôtel pour utiliser leurs toilettes et boire un thé
