2ème journée à Canberra

Balade culturelle, à la Nationale Gallery, pour voir l’exposition Tom Roberts.

Je découvre cet artiste australien qui s’est appliqué à dépeindre la vie dans le bush australien. 

Il a aussi beaucoup voyagé en Europe et rencontré les peintres de son temps.

Friday, February 12th

Cultural stroll, in Nationale Gallery, to see Tom Robert’s Exhibition.

I discover this Australian artist who applied to depict the life in the Australian bush. 

He also a lot travelled in Europe and met the painters of its time

A cette période, la classe moyenne australienne appelée « à la maison » de Grande Bretagne, voyageait régulièrement en bateau entre les deux pays.

 

At this time middle-class Australians called Britain « home » and regularly travelled between the two countries by boat

 

« A break away» 1891

Dans cette image d'action complexe, le cavalier travaille avec son cheval dans une tentative futile d'empêcher les moutons de se précipiter plus loin. La suffocation de la poussière obscurcit presque l'autre cavalier et le mouton plus en haut de la pente.

In this complex action picture, the rider works with his horse in a futile attempt to prevent further rushing of the sheep. Choking dust almost obscures the other horseman and sheep further up the slope.

Balade culturelle, d’abord dans les jardins du National Gallery, où se trouvent de nombreuses sculptures extérieures, d’artistes très variés (Henri Moore, Tiwi People, Vanuatu People) des artistes australiens, français. C’est très plaisant de marcher dans ce jardin au milieu de toutes ces œuvres 

1st day in Canberra - Thursday, February 11th

Cultural stroll, at first in the gardens of National Gallery, where are numerous outside sculptures, of artists highly varied (Henri Moore, Tiwi People, Vanuatu People) Australian, French artists. It is very pleasant to walk in this garden in the middle of all these works

Puis nous allons voir une magnifique exposition « Celestial Empire » à la Bibliothèque Nationale sur la vie en Chine de 1644 à 1911 (Dynastie Ming)

 

Then we go to see a magnificent exhibition "Celestial Empire" in the National library on the life in China from 1644 till 1911 (Ming Dynasty)

 

Et nous terminons la journée avec Joëlle une amie de Rebecca qui nous emmène sur les hauteurs de Canberra, pour voir la ville, les kangourous et un magnifique coucher de soleil

And we end the day with Joëlle a friend of Rebecca who takes us on the heights of Canberra, to see the city, the kangarooes and a magnificent sunset

Direction Canberra

Mercredi 10 février 

Dernier jour à Sydney. Je prends un car pour Canberra la capitale. 

3 h 30 de route mais le car a un petit problème donc ça met presque 1 h de plus. 

Je retrouve Rebecca et David pour 5 jours ensemble 

Wednesday 10th of february

Last day in Sydney. I take a bus to Canberra.

The bus have a small problem so the way last more than 4 hours instead of 3 and half. 

Canberra est un mot aborigène qui signifie Meeting Place (place de rassemblement)

Canberra is an Aborigonal name who means Meeting Place

I find Rebecca and David for 5 days together 

Regarder les étoiles

Mardi soir

Sur les conseils de Georges je vais à l’Observatoire voir le ciel de Sydney

Le pont vu de la rive sud ouest

Plein d’explications… mais en anglais et j’ai beaucoup de mal à comprendre ! Le nom des étoiles et des planètes en français ça va mais en anglais c’est un peu nébuleux pour moi ! Dommage

 

Le ciel était quand même très beau à voir même si en ville il y a trop de lumière pour bien apprécier

 

Je rentre à pieds en traversant une fois de plus la fameux Harbour Bridge !

Look at stars - On Tuesday evening

On the advice of Georges I go to the Observatory to see the sky of Sydney

Lots of explanations but in English and I have difficulty understanding! The name of stars and planets in French that goes but to English it’s a little bit misty for me! Damage

The sky was all the same very beautiful to see even if in town there is too much light to appreciate

I return in feet by crossing one more time famous Harbour Bridge!
