The Saint Augustin church / L’église Saint Augustin
In this church the Virgins’ statues are dressed in lace dresses or in coats in the lively colours.
Walls and pillars are almost entirely covered with commemorative tablets and with thanks
Dans cette église les statues des Vierges sont habillées de robes en dentelle ou de manteaux aux couleurs vives. Les murs et piliers sont recouverts presque intégralement de plaques commémo- ratives et de remerciements.
On the Murillo Square are the Palace of the government and the Cathedral side by side.
Sur la Place Murillo se trouvent le Palais du gouvernement et la Cathédrale cote à cote.
The Cathedral was established in 1605 and to make it, Bishop Antonio de Castro outstandingly gave up his income; later king of Spain financed his finish. When the work was ended the temple presented three naves, two collateral chapels, two high towers and an elegant dome which gave a beautiful aspect to the building. Later it underwent some reconstructions and modifications.
Today, it has beautiful volumes and 5 naves.
In one of the towers, opened on the square and guarded by two guards, there is a mausoleum of one of the presidents of Bolivia (I forgot which one)
La Cathédrale a été fondée en 1605 et pour la faire, l’Evêque Antonio de Castro a remarquablement cédé son revenu, plus tard le roi d'Espagne a financé sa finition. Quand l’œuvre a été terminée le temple présentait trois nefs, deux chapelles collatérales, deux tours élevées et une coupole élégante qui donnait un bel aspect à l'édifice. Plus tard elle a subi quelques reconstructions et modifications.
Aujourd’hui, elle a de beaux volumes et 5 nefs.
Dans une des tours, ouvert sur la place et gardé par deux garde, il y a le mausolée d’un des présidents de la Bolivie (j’ai oublié lequel)
