Road and Inca Ruins
The road called “the Inca’s road” cross the island, it climbs on the hill and in full heat it is a little bit difficult to rise … The road leads us on an Inca site where is Sacred Stone. It is in fact a big rock; it seems that of the time of the Incas this rock was covered with gold and with silver …
A little farther, they are the ruins of an Inca Temple dating 1400 before Christ BC. We are almost in the north point of the Island of the Sun.
Southward, the road sometimes in ground, sometimes stone, still goes up and follows crests. Magnificent! That is worth the fatigue!
It is rather desert, sometimes lower towards the sea it has terrace cultivations there. Far off, side Bolivia, the snowy Royal Mountain range; on the other side Peru (at the moment the border between both countries is closed because of a problem of a mine given up by the Peruvian government to a Canadian company. The not satisfied miners strike and block the border)
Chemin et Ruines Inca
Le chemin dit de l’Inca traverse l’île, il grimpe sur la colline et en plein cagnard c’est un peu difficile de monter… Le chemin nous mène sur un site Inca où se trouve la Pierre Sacrée. C’est en fait un gros rocher ; il paraît que du temps des Incas ce rocher était recouvert d’or et d’argent…
Un peu plus loin, se trouvent les ruines d’un Temple Inca datant de 1400 avant JC. Nous sommes presque à la pointe nord de l’Ile du Soleil.
Vers le sud, le chemin parfois en terre, parfois en pierre, monte encore et suit les crêtes. Splendide ! Ça vaut la fatigue !
C’est assez désertique, parfois plus bas vers la mer il y a des cultures en terrasses. Au loin, côté Bolivie, la Cordillère Royale enneigée ; de l’autre côté le Pérou (en ce moment la frontière entre les deux pays est fermée à cause d’un problème d’une mine cédée par le gouvernement péruvien à une entreprise canadienne. Les mineurs pas contents font grève et bloquent la frontière)

We well suffered … But it is forgotten in front of landscapes so grand!
Nous avons bien souffert… Mais c’est oublié devant des paysages aussi grandioses !
