Après quelques heures de route, au travers de champs vert et vert et vert encore… nous arrivons à Auckland et montons direct au Mont Eden pour voir la ville d’en haut et le coucher du soleil.

Chaud et froid ! La Source Bleue
Mercredi 6 avrilAprès les sources chaudes nous allons voir une source froide qui alimente 70° de la Nouvelle Zélande en eau minérale. L’eau transparente reste à une température constante de 11° toute l’année.

transparent water stays in a constant temperature of 11° all year longL'eau du Plateau Mamaku prend de n'importe où, entre 50 et 100 ans pour atteindre la Source Bleue. L'eau coule à un rythme de 42 m3/minute qui pourrait remplir une piscine de 6 lignes de 25 mètres en 12 minutes environ. L’eau a une température constante de 11° C hiver comme été.
La raison de la couleur bleue (et de la clarté visuelle) de Te Waihou et de la Source Bleue est la haute pureté optique de l’eau. L'eau pure est intrinsèquement dans la nuance bleue parce qu’elle absorbe la lumière rouge, laissant seulement la lumière bleue et (un peu) de verte, transmises à l'œil de l'observateur. Les eaux naturelles pures sont bleues à bleu-vert parce qu'elles manquent de la lumière absorbant les particules qui sont enlevées pendant la longue période de temps où l'eau de source passe dans les souterrains aquifères.
Hot and cold! The Blue Spring - Wednesday, April 6th
Water from the Mamaku Plateau takes anywhere between 50 and 100 years to reach the Blue Spring. Water flows frome the spring at a rate of 42m3/minute (which could effectively fill a six lane 25 letre pool in just over 12 minutes). The water is a constant 11°C come winter or summer.
The reason for the blue colour (and visuel clarity) of Te Waihou and the Blue Spring is the high optical purity of the water. The pure water is intrinsically blue in hue because it absorbs red light leaving only blue and (some) green light to be transmitted to the observer’s eye. Pure natural waters are blue to blue-green in colour because they lack light absorbing particles that are removed during the long time the spring water spends in underground aquifers.
