Saint Sophie, become a museum in 1935 under the order of Atatürk President, was at first a basilica then became a mosque

Istanbul : les handicapés participent aussi

The running is also opened to the persons in wheelchair

La course est ouverte aussi aux personnes en fauteuil

A group of sportsman even made the marathon by pulling or by pushing a young person in wheelchair.

On arrival, the handicapped kid laughed and really that pleased to see him …

Un groupe de sportif a même fait le marathon en tirant ou poussant un jeune en fauteuil.

A l’arrivée, le gamin handicapé rigolait et vraiment ça faisait plaisir de le voir…

It was a very beautiful race, in spite of the rain and the cold the atmosphere was warm!

Et bien voilà !

C’était une très belle course, malgré la pluie et le froid l’ambiance était chaleureuse !

Ah yes … I was going to forget … At the end they distributed a certificate (for the marathon runners) and a medal …

Ah oui…J’allais oublier… A la fin ils distribuaient un certificat (pour les marathoniens) et une médaille…

Istanbul : L’arrivée…

The race was well done and the arrival approaches … Several panels announce the end "8 km finish in 500m" then "8 km finish in 400m" etc. until the FINISH where our time is registered thanks to the chip put on our shoes.

 

La course s’est bien passée et l’arrivée approche… Plusieurs panneaux annoncent la fin…

« 8 km fin à 500m » puis « 8 km fin à 400m » etc. jusqu’au FINISH (le FINAL) où notre temps est enregistré grâce à la puce portée sur nos chaussures.

After the race, we are going to join the marathon’s arrival. For it we have to walk approximately 5 to 6 km, under a drizzle and always by taking our time, with break "Turkish coffee", crossing of the Galata bridge by looking at the fishermen, at stop here and there.

 

Après la course, nous allons rejoindre l’arrivée du marathon. Pour cela nous devons marcher environ 5 à 6 km, sous une pluie fine et toujours en prenant notre temps, avec pause « café turc », traversée du pont Galata en regardant les pêcheurs, arrêts par ci ou par là.

 

For Franck the inhabitant of Martinique it is a discovery, for me it is a pilgrimage! It is my 3^rd visit in Istanbul and I always like so much, even in the rain …

Pour Franck le martiniquais c’est une découverte, pour moi c’est un pèlerinage ! C’est ma 3^ème visite à Istanbul et j’adore toujours autant, même sous la pluie…

For the marathon runners it is quite another story … For them no doubt to stroll and to make photos throughout the road. It is because there is of the kilometres to be made …

Pour les marathoniens c’est une autre paire de manche… Pour eux pas question de flâner et de faire des photos tout au long du chemin. C’est qu’il y a du kilomètre à faire…

Here we are on the finishing line to support and encourage the runners on the last meters … The San Sophia museum church in sights, it is pleasant.

Nous voilà sur la ligne d’arrivée pour soutenir et encourager les coureurs sur les derniers mètres… Le musée église Sainte Sophie en ligne de mire, c’est agréable.

Here is Pierre "the champion" of our club, he made the marathon in 3 hours 30 minutes ! Respect …
