Le 15 décembre (du calendrier lunaire) chaque année se tient le grand festival où les gens viennent pour célébrer Mithra. Une grande reproduction de Bouddha sur une image est sortie du temple en procession et tous les Mosuo se bousculent pour la toucher afin que les dieux les bénissent.
Le lama du temple arrose les gens pour les purifier avec les branches d’un saule mouillées à l'eau bénite.
Les lamas imitent les dieux puissants en dansant au rythme de la musique la danse des mystères. Les danses des anciennes religions sont un grand divertissement. Les Mosuo jouent de la flûte et dansent des danses folkloriques.
