Abrupt !

Indian Head (Tête de l’Indien)

Kilomètres en 4x4 jusqu’au nord de l’île jusqu’à une avancée dans la mer appelée Indian Head. Notre guide Wayne a peut-être expliqué pourquoi ce nom, mais comme je ne comprenais pas ce qu’il disait à cause de son accent très prononcé, du coup, je ne sais pas !

Kilometers 4x4 to the North of the island up to an overhang in the sea called Indian Head. Our guide Wayne maybe explained why this name, but as I did not understand what he said because of his very pronounced accent, as a result I do not know!

On peut voir la mer des deux côtés et à la pointe, il y a des rochers très escarpés !

We can see the sea from both directions and in the point, there are very steep rocks!

Camping à Fraser Island

Installation dans un camping à Dilli Village, entouré de barrière grillagées assez hautes pour se protéger des dingos, chiens sauvages qui vivent là.

Il ne faut pas sortir seul du camping, ni aller sur la plage seul ; rester en groupe à cause des dingos !

 

Camping to Fraser Island

Tuesday, May 31^st evening

Installation in a campsite to Dilli Village, surrounded with barrier fenced in rather high to protect itself from dingoes, wild dogs which live there.

You should not go out alone of the campsite, nor to go on the beach alone; stay in a group because of dingoes!

Fraser Island

Nous arrivons à Fraser Island, île de sable sur laquelle une forêt a réussi à pousser ! Là aussi nous roulons pendant des kilomètres sur l’immense plage de la côte Est, jusqu’à l’épave du Maheno. C’est un bateau qui pendant la 1^ère Guerre Mondiale a servi de base d’hopital.

 

Fraser Island

Tuesday, May 31^st afternoon

We arrive at Fraser Island, it’s island of sand on which a forest managed to grow!

There, also we drive during kilometers on the immense beach of the East coast, up to the wreck of Maheno. It is the boat which during the 1^st World War served as base of hospital.

 

 

 

Rainbow Beach

Rdv à 6h45 (et oui c’est très tôt !) pour aller à Fraser Island une île à quelques heures de route de Brisbane.

En chemin nous passons à Noosa où nous prenons un premier bac, puis nous roulons pendant des kilomètres sur la magnifique plage de sable de Rainbow Beach (le 4x4 est apprécié !). La plage est bordée de fabuleuses collines aux tons ocre, jaune, rouge ; par endroits des milliers de petits crabes grouillent sur la plage.

Là nous prenons une barge qui nous amène à Fraser Island.

 

Rainbow Beach  - Tuesday, May 31^st

 

Meeting at 6:45 am (and yes it’s very early!) to go to Fraser Island an island a few hours away by road from Brisbane.

Along the way we pass to Noosa where we take a first ferry, then we drive during kilometers on the magnificent sandy beach of Rainbow Beach (the 4x4 is appreciated!). The beach is lined with fabulous hills in the ochre, yellow, red tones; by places of thousands of small crabs swarm on the beach.

There we take a barge which brings us to Fraser Island.
