In 494, Wei from the North are going to put on in search of a site favourable to the creation of wall oratories. They find it in the south of Luoyang where the river Yi maked a bottleneck at the edge of a rocky gorge called Longmen « The door of the dragon »
With the abundance of pictures, Longmen is a museum of the buddhist sculptor. More than 2000 caves and alcoves were bored, excavated temples or modest ex voto, statues sharpened in stone here.

En 494, les Wei du Nord vont se mettre en quête d’un site favorable à la création d’oratoires rupestres. Ils le trouvent au sud de Luoyang là où la rivière Yi est étranglée au bord d’une gorge rocheuse appelée Longmen « La porte du dragon ».
Avec sa profusion d’images, Longmen est un musée de la statuaire bouddhique. Plus de 2000 grottes et niches ont été forées ici, temples excavés ou modestes ex-voto, statues taillées dans la pierre…
